Chief Charlie Annis
Chief Annis was hired as the Chief of Police on April 7, 2003. He brings with him an extensive background in law enforcement and transportation safety. Charlie was raised in a small rural town in Eastern Arkansas, Earle.
Following high school, he began his long journey in law enforcement, beginning as a radio operator for the Arkansas State Police, in Forrest City. A short time later he entered the U.S. Army, serving a three year tour, with one and one-half of those years in Germany. Following the army, he was reassigned as a radio operator again, with th Arkansas State Police, stationed in Harrison.
In 1960 he was assigned as a State Trooper with his first duty station in Harrison and then throughout the next five years he had assignments in Bentonville, Hot Springs and Helena. While serving almost three years in Benton County Arkansas he became friends with several Oklahoma Troopers and in 1965 he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Charlie entered the 20th Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy on January 4, 1966. He served twenty years with the OHP, retiring in June 1986. From there he served as law Enforcement Director at Central Vo-Tech School in Drumright. After fourteen months he began his transportation safety career with a large trucking company, where he served as Director of Safety and Security for a little over 15 years.
Charlie has earned an Associate of Applied Science degree from Connors State College in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern State University in Criminal Justice.
He says that still being in law enforcement and serving a small community much like the one he grew up in fulfills and totally completes a satisfying career of serving the people and doing what he loves.
